- Oil pastel coloring, blending and texturizing techniques to create a beautiful oil pastel painting. Chalk pastels can be substituted for oil pastels.
Watercolor paper or mixed media paper. Oil pastels (or chalk pastels) for children. (water soluble) Blending stubs or Q-tips. Plastic painting palette knife to scratch the background. (No kitchen knives please.)
Use only child safe oil pastels (typically water soluble). Child safe plastic painting palette knife only. (No kitchen knives please.)
