US Grade 2 - 5

Beginner - Advanced Level

This class is a fun and easy introduction to oil pastel (or chalk pastel) blending and texture backgrounds. I will show my finished artwork at the start of class as a reference. We will discuss all the art supplies needed to create this beautiful tropical flower. I will give a step-by-step drawing lesson to sketch the flower while learners create their work with me. Oil pastel coloring, blending and texturizing techniques to create a beautiful oil pastel painting.
Chalk pastels can be substituted for oil pastels.

Mixed media paper or smooth paper.
Oil pastels (or chalk pastels) for children. (water soluble)
Q-tips or use fingers to blend.
Plastic painting palette knife to scratch the background. (No kitchen knives please.)

45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

Use only child safe oil pastels (typically water soluble).
Child safe plastic painting palette knife only. (No kitchen knives please.)
