Art journaling creates a deep sense of self-awareness, empowers, inspires, clarifies thinking, and encourages. This course is a reworking (for the school year) of the week-long camp Art Journaling Courses I offer in the summer.

Description

Class Experience

Students will brainstorm, sketch, plan, and reflect to generate ideas and create
Students will demonstrate craftsmanship
Students will practice imaginative and expressive imagery
Students will create art that connects to personal experiences
Students will analyze how lines affect a work of art and choose accordingly
Students will create compositional unity
Students will create the illusion of depth through overlapping, size, and placement
Students will use contour drawing and shading
Students will use craft techniques
As needed by the student to complete entries. 
A journal, preferably a mixed media sketchbook Watercolors A water brush Matte medium Gesso White gel pen Black artist pens Magazines, paper clippings, ephemera Acrylic paint in 2-3 complementary colors
Informal check-ins and shares 
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
While I cannot determine what students will journal about - the entry prompts are innocuous and do not naturally lend themselves to students sharing sensitive or inappropriate material.
