Art History Workshop: Let's Learn to Paint Like Alma Woodsey Thomas
Class experience
This class will be an interactive art history class using a Power Point where students will focus on the career of the artist Alma Woodsey Thomas. They will read about her life through a shared reading activity with a follow up worksheet activity to help summarize what they learned. Students will look at several of her art pieces and learn about the techniques this artist used to create an art piece of their own. This is a great course for students who are looking to express themselves...
It is a goal for students to use painting as a way to express themselves. Students will use art as a way to explore history. Students will understand the color field movement and have it impact their art pieces. Students will build confidence as artist. Students will have fun!
I have worked with elementary students for the past 3 years on developing literacy skills and helping students use reading, writing, and art as a way to express themselves. I am a recent graduate from Whittier College with a major in Child Development and a minor in Education.
