Description

Class Experience

My students will be able to analyze and discuss artworks portraying important people and events from the Tudor Dynasty, in this case Henry VIII. There are many details which can be learned through artworks about people and events that are important to understanding history on deeper level. Each learner will be given the tools to carry out this analysis on their own and will be able to put their thoughts about these subjects on paper and present them in class discussions.
In college I began tutoring my class mates in Humanities. My family members, nephews, needed some extra help in history classes so, I really loved helping out in their education at the high school level. I loved teaching so I wanted to pursue this career path. I have a BA in art history and a Master's degree in Education, from Mansfield University in PA. For seven years I had the privilege of teaching at the college level at Colorado Northwestern Community College in my hometown. My subjects were Art History, Art Appreciation and Humanities. I was able to create and deliver lectures, design homework assignments, tests and other class material. I love teaching and I have always studied history as it is a passion that I enjoy.
A short in class quiz will be assigned to be completed by each student in class. Class discussions are an important element here too! Lectures will cover corresponding paintings, portraiture and architecture to view and analyze in class.
All materials will be supplied. Visual art and lectures.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
A written report for each student will summarize each students progress.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Yes, there are a few elements of violence and sensitive areas here that will be more appropriate for more mature students. I have always been careful to present any information with care and good taste. An overview rather than a detailed type of description will be how I handle such material that may be violent or sexual in nature. Henry VIII was not an angle by any stretch of the imagination, but the facts and sensitive material will be handled in an academic manner, taking into account the age range of my students in this class.
