US Grade 5 - 8
This interactive art history class will include virtual tours of various galleries and museums (with permission, of course), interactive lessons and student-paced quizzes, polls and games. Students will learn about four important art movements of the 20th century. Each week I will post a link to access a private Nearpod student-paced lesson and students will be assigned a project to complete during the week. Art history is an important part of the world's history and is a great way to incorporate social studies into arts and crafts. If you are a frequent museum visitor, you will find that this class will help your student to better recognize, appreciate and understand the artists and their works. If you are not able to visit museums or galleries in your area, you will be able to tour many of them virtually! Since this class requires the use of Nearpod presentations, your student should be comfortable navigating between the Outschool page and Nearpod, typing responses on the keyboard and using drawing tools onscreen. Students can also access the lessons on a separate device, such as a tablet or smartphone. Their responses throughout the lessons are compiled and sent to me once the lesson is completed, but once the session has expired it is no longer accessible. However, all comments and photos submitted to the Outschool classroom will be available even after the course has ended. I am looking forward to sharing my passion for modern art with your student!
