Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Important Notes: All of my classes are inclusive. Classes are suitable for the neurodiverse child.
CEFR: B1-B2 or above.

In this fun and enriching class, Learner will discover the relevant European visual art styles & movements of the 19th-20th Century, a time in Europe when artists were challenging the established art codes, and reinventing against the tide of the critics who were in many cases still catching up with the new vision of what was art. We will cover impressionism, post impressionism, pointillism, fauvism, expressionism, cubism, futurism, constructivism, Dada, surrealism, abstract expressionism, pop art, and installations, including Art Nouveau and the Bauhaus.

The class is structured in an interactive way, with students learning of a carefully selected group of artists and their works representative of each style. Class will include a visual & musical rendition of one of Van Gogh's most famous paintings, a vibrant powerpoint presentation, and actively engaging the students for their commentary.

Teaching style is inclusive, kind, and enthusiastic, with the neurodivergent learner feeling most welcome. For these reasons and for gauging Learner's interest level and to be able to adjust accordingly, I require open mics and video in my classes so there is a sense of community and engagement with the material, but will accommodate children who wish not to be on camera.

Class will include a final Q&A. No previous experience is required. Class size is kept small to maximize exchanges and mutual enrichment.
