In this weekly class, learners will journey back in time and dig up some ancient Egyptian history! Students will immerse themselves in the history, art and culture of this ancient civilization through a variety of artistic mediums. Leaners will tap into their creative natures through hands-on art projects and learn about: King Tut, Queen Nefertiti, the Eye of Horus, pyramids, and the ancient goddess Bast (for the cat lover in you!) I encourage my students to explore their creativity and experiment with new techniques in a fun, supportive environment. I believe art fosters self-esteem through skill building and independent thinking, while giving students the confidence to express themselves authentically. I will provide learners with a brief presentation on the subject, followed by step-by-step instruction to create artwork that reflects their perspective. Opportunities to engage with their peers will be through discussion, participation, and the sharing of artwork, if they so desire.
Learning Goals
Learners will be introduced to the history of ancient Egypt through hands-on art projects, materials, and artistic techniques.
