Class Experience
US Grade 2 - 12
Important Notes: All of my classes are inclusive and welcome the neurodiverse child. Tailored to each student's interest and skill level. CEFR: B1-B2 or above. Class may be taught in English or Spanish. In this art & history based class, Learner will travel from the first centuries of our Common Era discovering the world of Miniature Art, from Persia, to Medieval times, all the way to modern day. This unique art style is explored through historical, geographical and social lenses: why were miniature paintings so important in the Middle Ages through the Renaissance and the Enlightenment? What do we have to thank for their existence today? Learner will develop a solid Art History & Cultural Appreciation through the many examples covered from Iran to England, France, USA among others. Presentation will include an impressive selection of miniature art from portraits to landscapes, how is it made, as well as other forms of miniatures from sculptures to trees. The class is structured following an introduction, a rich slide selection, including exchanges, and Q&A. Teaching style is kind and inclusive, emphasizing love for the arts, with captivating learning & discovery. For these reasons and for gauging Learner's interest level and to be able to adjust accordingly, I require open mics and video in my classes so there is a sense of engagement with the material. Class size is kept private (1:1) to allow for learner to explore their curiosity. This class is one of a group of Art History classes which follow a unifying central theme (others are based on Dogs, Cats, Horses, Birds, Families, Love, Christmas, Toys, etc.) and may be taken as a complete group, as in a camp format, or separately. No previous experience is required.
Learning Goals
To develop an enriching understanding and appreciation of world art and humanities.
