Class Experience

We'll learn about the famous art heist and vandalism attempts of the most famous painting in the world, currently valued at near a billion dollars. Then we'll learn about the Mona Lisa's painter, the most talented Renaissance Man to ever live. We'll explore Da Vinci's life and look at several of his works, choosing one work to sketch as a class.

In 1911, the Mona Lisa was stolen from the Louvre and remained missing for two years. Since then, there have been vandalism attempts such as acid, rocks, and a teacup thrown at the painting. Today it resides beneath bulletproof glass.

*Students should bring paper and pencil/crayons/markers to sketch one of Da Vinci's works.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
Jennifer enjoys sharing her passion for writing, literature, and the creative arts with students of all ages. As a magazine and commercial writer for national and international corporations and publications, she has relished the great privilege of a career spent stringing words together.

Her background as an elementary school teacher and near decade of homeschooling a brood of four rowdy loves has revealed both the joy and struggle of teaching. She embraces a philosophy of literature based learning with heavy doses of nature thrown in for good measure, aspiring to but always falling quite short of the admirable principles of her mentor, Charlotte Mason.

In her free time, usually eeked out in the wee hours of the night when she should be sleeping, she enjoys devouring library books before her toddler wracks up fines by putting pen and marker to their tempting canvas of pages. She would love to count your children among those she is honored to teach.
