This will be an interactive art class that encourages children to experiment with different ways of drawing through games and fun art challenges. Children will get a chance to share their art and contribute to the conversation and ideas throughout the games and challenges. Students will expand their sense of self-expression, confidence and love of drawing. Each time I teach this class, I choose different games and art prompts, so learners may take this class again and again. My teaching style is inclusive and supportive. I want children to feel inspired. Children will get to ask questions, make suggestions, and share what they are working on. I use two screens to teach this class so I log in with my computer and with my smart phone. One screen allows the viewer to see me, and one screen is the Art Screen. Children may PIN the Art Screen which allows them to see my hands and the art-making while I teach.
Other Details
Supply List
At least 10 pieces of paper, black marker or black crayon, pencil with an eraser, crayons or markers, some coins, and a few Lego pieces or toy pieces that you can trace on paper. Optional: dice, a stapler and scissors. We won't always use all of these materials, but have them on hand in case we do.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
I run a mobile art lab and teach children art in a variety of places. When I teach summer camps, I always incorporate a chance for drawing games and art challenges, and this is often the most-loved moment in the day for some children. I aim to create a supportive and fun learning environment for kids to feel comfortable to create.
