In this 5 lesson course we will learn about portrait photography! I will be demonstrating the projects and in a series of videos & slideshows. Lesson 1: Formal Balance (Symmetry) Portraits This lesson we will look at photographs demonstrating symmetry. We will be examine formal balance can be used in portrait photography. Students will then shoot their own photographs demonstrating this type of balance. Lesson 2: Informal Balance (Asymmetry) Portraits This lesson we will look at photographs demonstrating asymmetry. We will be examine informal balance can be used in portrait photography. Students will then shoot their own photographs demonstrating this type of balance. Lesson 3: Radial Balance Portraits This lesson we will look at photographs demonstrating radial balance. This week will be about movement in our images! We will be examine radial balance can be used in portrait photography. Students will then shoot their own photographs demonstrating this type of balance. Lesson 4: Candid Portraits This lesson we will talk about the differences between a studio and candid shot. Students will create their own candid portraits this week. Lesson 5: Creative Portraits This lesson we will look at various artists creating non conventional portraits. We will talk about mixed media as well this week! Students will then create their own image. Students should have prior knowledge of how to operate the camera they are using. Tips and tricks will be given but this course will not focus on camera operation.

I have taught high school art for 18 years! Last year I had the opportunity to teach middle school students remotely and loved it! I have taught a variety of courses over my career such as: Fine Arts 1 & 2, Introduction to Photography, Pottery 1 & 2, Introduction to Jewelry, Introduction to Crafts, Introduction to Sculpture, Design 1 & 2.
I believe creating art is a process. It takes making a mess, mistakes and trying again! Creating art is a method of communication with the world!
When I'm not creating art, I love cooking, reading, spending time with friends & family!
