I want to encourage a love for physical exercise and health by pouring my own love and passion into them! I seek to do this by providing an engaging and upbeat workout that your child will be talking about long after it ends! -Miss Shannon According to the American Heart Association: Active kids are more likely to have: -a healthy weight -stronger, healthier bones and muscles -better heart and brain health -improved brain function, including memory, attention and problem-solving -better school attendance and academic performance, especially in math, reading and writing -lower long-term risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and some kinds of cancer -less stress and fewer symptoms of anxiety and depression -less inappropriate and distracting classroom behavior -improved mental health and psychological well-being, including confidence and self-esteem My goal is for artists to have fun creating winter-themed, colorful artwork using simple supplies and to learn new techniques they can experiment with on their own. -Ms. Gerri
Miss Shannon: Bachelor's Degree- Elementary Education (University of Central Florida) Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) License- National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Youth Exercise Specialist (YES) Certified- (NASM) Fitness Nutrition Specialist (FNS) Certified- (NASM) Experience- 5+ years youth fitness trainer Ms. Gerri graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in visual arts. She has taught K-12 graders for 14 years in a variety of subjects, including a monthly art program that focused on art elements and the art masters. She enjoys teaching simple concepts that allow her students to experiment, explore and express themselves in new ways. Ms. Gerri loves discovering how one technique can have unexpected results and even be used in new ways. Sharing these colorful ideas with young artists makes the process even more exciting- we often learn from each other!
For our workout: -Water (for hydration) -Small space clear of objects For our art project: - Mixed media art paper or watercolor paper- needs to hold up to a lot of water! - Table salt - Brushes, cup of water, old towel/paper towels - Watercolors - White oil pastel - Plain white printer paper - Black sharpie
Parental guidance is suggested just to make sure your child is staying hydrated and resting when needed. But don't worry! We will take plenty of group water and breathing breaks! Please have your art supplies ready for your child prior to class.
