Beginner Level
This self-paced art class will provide your young artist with the foundational skills to start their art-making journey! This course features four lessons that feature a slow and descriptive demonstration, including how to hold a marker to draw, how to use scissors to cut out a circle, and how a glue stick works. Each lesson will build on the next, using repetition and play to strengthen fine motor skills and boost cognitive development. 

Printable worksheets will be provided every week to help students practice and keep track of what they have learned. 

Topics covered: 
Using markers, crayons, and colored pencils
Using scissors safely to cut out shapes
How a use tape, a glue stick, and a bottle of glue without a big mess

Syllabus

4 Lessons
over 4 Weeks
Lesson 1:
Crayons and Markers
 In our first lesson, we will cover how to hold a crayon or marker and how to draw different types of lines and marks. Students will practice making dots, lines, filling and shading, as well as self-exploration through mark-making. We will introduce clean-up time which will happen at the end of every lesson. 
Lesson 2:
Tape
 This lesson is all about tape. We will look at different types of tape and what they might be used for. Students will practice pulling tape from the roll and taping pieces of paper together. 
Lesson 3:
Scissors
 This lesson focuses on teaching students how to hold and use a pair of scissors safely. Students will practice by cutting paper into small pieces, long pieces, circles and shapes. 
Lesson 4:
Glue
 This lesson will teach students how to use a glue stick and a bottle of white glue. We will cover how to open the glue, how to get glue to come out, where and how much glue to put down, and how to keep the glue clean. Students will practice gluing together the paper they cut in the previous lesson.
