In this 5 lesson course we will create with clay! I will be demonstrating the projects and techniques in a series of step-by-step videos & slideshows. Students will use air dry clay for their projects- I will be using Crayola Model Magic in my demonstrations. Lesson 1: Pinch Pots! Learners will construct using the pinch method. Texture use will be demonstrated as well. Students will have several options for surface finish- even marker marbleized! Lesson 2: Surface Finish! This lesson learners will examine the many ways they can finish their projects. Marker, watercolor and acrylic will be demonstrated. Students will then use this knowledge for the rest of the course so they can make choices! Lesson 3: Slab Constructed Owls! This lesson we will talk about slab construction. Learners will build on texture knowledge from last week in this project. Lesson 4: Coil Pots! This lesson learners will construct using the coil method. We will examine coils, braids, twists for added detail! Lesson 5: Imaginary Animals! This lesson learners will explore Alebrije inspired animals! Learners will explore 3D construction of their chosen animal.
Learning Goals
Learners will create several projects while learning about different construction methods in clay.

1. Model Magic Clay- You can find on amazon, Walmart, Target and craft stores. This comes will 4 individual bags which makes it easy to divide between the four projects. Amazon link: https://a.co/d/4qWHBgL 2. Finish materials- students can use markers, watercolor or acrylic paint.

I have taught a variety of courses over my career such as: Fine Arts 1 & 2, Introduction to Photography, Pottery 1 & 2, Introduction to Jewelry, Introduction to Crafts, Introduction to Sculpture, Design 1 & 2.
I believe creating art is a process. It takes making a mess, mistakes and trying again! Creating art is a method of communication with the world!
When I'm not creating art, I love cooking, reading, spending time with friends & family!
