Class Experience

In this enjoyable and creative art club, students will have the opportunity to paint landscapes, still lifes, animals, and natural objects. During spring, we will focus on painting floral designs, trees, and scenes that capture the essence of the season. In summer, we will create artworks featuring the beach, seashells, boats, and palm trees. For the fall, we will paint autumn-themed subjects such as pumpkins, apples, and farm scenes. In winter, we will portray snowscapes, pine trees, and cozy indoor settings.

Students will learn basic watercolor painting techniques, including wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, dry brush, flat wash, gradated wash, and variegated wash. We will also explore fundamental color theory through paint mixing.

This class encourages open communication; students will have ample time to talk with one another and with me. I will provide plenty of enthusiastic and supportive feedback. My teaching style is relaxed, allowing students to develop their unique artistic style.

The class is open to both beginners and advanced students who may seek encouragement. I promote creativity throughout the process and will be painting alongside the students, demonstrating techniques as we create our artworks together. I will use an overhead camera to make my demonstration, as well as having one of my own original paintings as the example piece.

Hello! I am an Art Educator and Artist. I love teaching art to all ages, especially elementary school and middle school. My art classes include watercolor painting, acrylic painting, drawing, elementary art projects that work on skill building, and learning about art history through fun projects about artists - including Non-Western and Women artists.

I teach art from my heart and aim to build self esteem in my students through the arts. I challenge students to find their inner artist through creativity and self expression. I believe in the process of art, individual expression, creative thinking, and problem solving. Each art project is designed to develop technical skills, artistic interpretation, and unique artwork. We have lots of fun while making artwork and socializing is encouraged during my art classes.

My art background began as a child. I loved to learn how to paint or draw anything and everything. After receiving a BFA in Graphic Design, I became a children's textile designer in the fashion industry in NYC. While in New York, I attended fine arts classes at the Art Student's League and The New School. I moved to New York State's Hudson Valley, and am inspired daily by the landscapes and nature around me. I also am inspired by my pet cats, who may visit the classroom once in a while.
