Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Beginner Level
During this weekly, ongoing class, students will learn to create art using oil pastels using a step-by-step method. Students will have the choice whether to draw using a pencil first or to jump right in with the oil pastels. The choice is up to each individual.

My goal for this class is to not only teach the students how to create each piece, but to also give the students practice and techniques to improve their artistic skills on a regular basis. Practice = progress.

⚠️Note: If you use pencil first, you may see it under the oil pastels. I suggest using a kneaded eraser to lift some of the graphite before painting.

During the class, we will socialize while creating. We can talk about the subject that we're creating. We can talk about artists that we enjoy. We can talk about everyday life or each student's history with art. We will talk about whatever comes natural.

⚠️ Note: Sometimes students request to draw holiday themed activities like decorating a tree, going trick-or-treating, or celebrating a birthday. If you don't celebrate holidays, feel free to reach out and we'll talk about it. Thanks!

This class is student directed. Each week, the students will take turns choosing what they would like to draw, within reason. Some topics we may paint are nature, animals, landscapes, food, etc.

If the student is slow at drawing or creating, it's okay! We all create at our own pace, but unfortunately, we only have the time that we have so the student may be encouraged to finish their piece after class. The classes are recorded so the students are able to watch the recording, go at their own pace (by pausing the video), and try to draw it again.

Knowledge of prior drawing classes will not be necessary since there will be new creations to create every week. Students can join this class at any point without getting lost. This is a no pressure class. We are just painting, socializing, and having fun!

2 cameras will be used during class.

Students will have the option to share their creation during class, if they want to.

Students may be muted if there is a lot of background noise or if other students are talking. Please show them how to unmute themselves when they are ready to talk. Thanks!

⚠️ Note: If I don't have a day or time that works for you, please reach out and I'll see what I can do. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I am super excited to have the opportunity to teach your children on Outschool. I love teaching online. It is such a great opportunity to learn new skills and meet new people.

Before I talk about myself, I want to mention that if you want to take one of my classes, but you don't see a time or date that works for you, please reach out and message me and I'll see what I can do to accommodate you and your child. Also, if I'm not teaching an age-range you should reach out as well. I'm friendly and I try my best to be fair and accommodating, so let me know if there's something I can do to help!

I have an Associate's in Liberal Arts. I have a B.A. in Foreign Language, with a specialization in French. I have a minor in creative writing. I also have a M.A.Ed. in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL), as well as a certification in TESOL. I received all of my degrees from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. I have a wide variety of experiences.

Even though I enjoy all of these subjects (French, English, creative writing, etc.), I have another passion and that is art. I have been doing art for as long as I can remember and I have taken many classes in art as well. I think that learning should be fun, interactive, and exciting and I hope to bring all of these things to the classroom. I am always super passionate about my art and even have started getting a following on social media for it. I would love to share my passion for art and creativity in the classroom!

Besides teaching, I mainly spend my days doing art and crafts, imagine that! I also love to penpal, make Youtube videos, and spend time with my husband and my dog.

I hope to see all of you in class! Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. And thank you for stopping by.
