For artists who love to draw animals, and would also like some time to socialize! This class is a little more informal than most of Ms. Kristy's other classes-- it is a great chance for kids to meet and connect with one another, while also having a fun activity to do! We start out every class with time to say hello, share what's going on, and even show some artwork we've made (if we want to!). Learners will have some time to chat with each other and Ms. Kristy. Then we'll take some time to draw together. We'll draw an animal that students have chosen together in the previous class. Ms. Kristy demonstrates on-screen, step by step. Our drawings are realistic, but simplified so we each have time to add our own creative details-- outlines, color, shading, background, whatever you want to add! I'll check in with everyone several times and help when needed. Toward the end of class, we'll take suggestions for next week's animal, and vote on which one we're going to draw together. Any kind of animal, **real or imaginary,** is fair game! At the very end of class, students will have the chance to share their drawings (if they want to!). NEXT CLASS WE'LL DRAW: March 2: Dragon!!! ************************************************************************************************ I hope to meet you in art club! If you're looking for a little less chat and more time for detailed drawings, check out my Draw Together series: Draw Together: Realistic Animals (For Beginners!) Learning Goals
Students will practice drawing different types of (simplified) animals, and will have the freedom to add personal details, with the support of a teacher to help! We will also practice social skills by balancing our talking time with the time we give to others, and practice the back-and-forth of conversation as we work.

Ms. Kristy has been an art teacher and worked with children of all ages for many years! We've done lots of different subjects and media in my classes, from animals to people, still life, painting, drawing, even sculpture. I've always enjoyed making the art room a warm and inviting environment where kids feel they have room to be creative. Some of our classes are more serious, and focus on technique, but this one will be more open and social!
