Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
During this weekly, ongoing class, students will be given prompts to help them create OCs (Original Characters). These characters can be anything like humans, humanoids, mythical creatures, animals, etc. We will draw these characters and we will discuss them. Each student will have the chance to be spotlighted on Zoom and have the opportunity to discuss their character.
Students are welcome to draw and color their OCs, time permitting.

This is not a step-by-step class. This is more of a class for sparking creativity, finding our art style, and having fun, while drawing and socializing.

Even though this is not a step-by-step class, I will show my drawing with a second camera and students are more than welcome to copy what I draw, students are encouraged to use their imagination and draw what they like. These are our original characters, so there's no right or wrong way to draw it. This is less of a step-by-step class and more of a collaboration of ideas, socializing, creativity, and having fun type of class.

My goal for this class is to not only help the students design an OC, but to also help them create stories and backgrounds for their OCs. It's also a chance for the students to practice and find techniques to improve their artistic skills on a regular basis. Practice = progress.

During the class, we will socialize while drawing. We can talk about the OCs that we're drawing. We can talk about artists that we enjoy. We can talk about everyday life or each student's history with art. We will talk about whatever comes natural.

⚠️ Note: Sometimes students may want to draw holiday themed activities like decorating a tree, going trick-or-treating, or celebrating a birthday. If you don't celebrate holidays, feel free to reach out and we'll talk about it. Thanks!

Each week, the students will choose what they would like to draw. They will be given weekly prompts that are weekly dictated and they will be able to create a character based on the prompts provided. These prompts are to help the students consider key details in their character development process.

If the student is slow at drawing, it's okay! We all create at our own pace, but unfortunately, we only have the time that we have so the student may be encouraged to finish their piece after class.

Knowledge of prior drawing classes will not be necessary since there will be new prompts and drawings to draw every week. Students can join this class at any point without getting lost. This is a no pressure class. We are just drawing, socializing, and having fun!

2 cameras will be used during class.

Students will have the option to share their drawing during class, if they want to.

Students may be muted if there is a lot of background noise or if other students are talking. Please show them how to unmute themselves when they are ready to talk. Thanks!

⚠️ Note: If I don't have a day or time that works for you, please reach out and I'll see what I can do. Thanks!

Hi everyone! I am super excited to have the opportunity to teach your children on Outschool. I love teaching online. It is such a great opportunity to learn new skills and meet new people.

Before I talk about myself, I want to mention that if you want to take one of my classes, but you don't see a time or date that works for you, please reach out and message me and I'll see what I can do to accommodate you and your child. Also, if I'm not teaching an age-range you should reach out as well. I'm friendly and I try my best to be fair and accommodating, so let me know if there's something I can do to help!

I have an Associate's in Liberal Arts. I have a B.A. in Foreign Language, with a specialization in French. I have a minor in creative writing. I also have a M.A.Ed. in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL), as well as a certification in TESOL. I received all of my degrees from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. I have a wide variety of experiences.

Even though I enjoy all of these subjects (French, English, creative writing, etc.), I have another passion and that is art. I have been doing art for as long as I can remember and I have taken many classes in art as well. I think that learning should be fun, interactive, and exciting and I hope to bring all of these things to the classroom. I am always super passionate about my art and even have started getting a following on social media for it. I would love to share my passion for art and creativity in the classroom!

Besides teaching, I mainly spend my days doing art and crafts, imagine that! I also love to penpal, make Youtube videos, and spend time with my husband and my dog.

I hope to see all of you in class! Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. And thank you for stopping by.
