This lesson provides several positive learning outcomes. By observing, discussing, and creating a winter landscape, the learners are also able to gain a deeper understanding of art in our world around us. They will learn how to apply the elements of art and principles of design while creating the scene. Science is also integrated into this lesson through learning about wax resist. Other learning outcomes include positive communication and critical thinking skills. Group discussion during the presentation and activity promotes positive communication, as does sharing the artworks in the concluding discussion. Additionally, the learners will utilize critical thinking skills by applying, analyzing and synthesizing their prior knowledge and experiences into the class discussion as well as into the artwork they create.
