Class Experience

This is a weekly art class in which students create art, while also learning something related to math, science, reading, music, and/or history. We will be working with a variety of mediums including; marker, oil pastel, chalk pastel, watercolor, tempera, air dry clay, and construction paper. Students will be introduced to a topic or theme via slides and/or a short video. The teacher will facilitate a group discussion and then we will get to work on an art project. Most projects will take two classes to finish. Parents will need a place to keep their child's projects between classes so that they have time to dry if needed.

New art projects will be presented seasonally and *families are encouraged to sign up for multiple offerings of this class throughout the year.

Here is a sample outline of what would be offered over the course of 8 weeks

Week 1 & 2: Painted Paper Collage
Week 3 & 4: Marker Drawing & Painting Project
Week 5 & 6: Chalk Pastel Project
Week 7 & 8: Air Dry Clay or Sculpture Project

Parents are encouraged to share photos of their child's projects in the Outschool classroom, so that the teacher and students can engage and comment on each others artwork for the duration of the course.
