Art education encourages creative thinking that will lend itself to unique problem-solving skills later in life. Art Class Foundations is a weekly art class that builds a solid groundwork for creative thinking. Students will engage with their artwork while experimenting with a variety of different art materials and learning important art concepts and techniques. Each project begins with a guided creation, and students are given a lot of room to insert their own imaginative interpretations as we go along. I encourage students to make their artwork personal to them and I praise their artwork for all of their individuality. The last few minutes of class are spent sharing finished art or art-in-progress. Students are not required to share their work, but most enjoy doing so. Art concepts and techniques students will be exposed to: Drawing Color theory Foreground, middle ground, and background Layering and collage Printmaking & Resist Art elements (line, shape, form, etc.) Art principles (rhythm, balance, contrast, etc.) Making thoughtful and conscious artistic choices And free-expression art creation! I introduce students to different art tools and materials and encourage them to experiment. This experimentation gives students new and innovative ways of seeing art and gives them the chance to try unique techniques. *Some parental assistance required depending on the age and maturity of the student(s). All projects are designed to fit within the allotted class time, but depending on the attention to detail and interest of the student(s), some classes run over while others can run short. We rarely run over/short more than 10-15 minutes and always makeup in our average. I absolutely LOVE art and learning about the artists that are talented enough to be famous. I went to art school in Atlanta and have spent endless hours teaching (and creating) art since.
