Art by April: Acrylic Painting Club for Tweens and Teens
Art Class for Creative Teens Part 3: Drawing, Painting and Creative Thinking
Class experience
I will be teaching intermediate level art, ideal for junior high school aged art students. This is ideal for learners who have taken Art Class For Creative Teens Part 1 and/or Part 2, or for learners who already have some acrylic painting, watercolour painting and drawing experience. I always mute my classes but I encourage learners to unmute themselves and ask questions at any point. Learners who take this as an ongoing class will develop as artists over time and learn a variety of...
We will learn: - different drawing skills such as how to shade with marker, coloured pointillism, and how to draw on black and toned paper. - how to apply differnt acrylic painting and watercolour painting techniques. - basic visual communications and practical design.
Homework Offered
Every week I will expect learners to finish the class project if they were not able to finish it in class time. I expect that most learners will need additional time to finish their projects, especially in the classes that focus more on drawing, storytelling, and design.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Learners who take this as an ongoing class will develop as artists over time and learn a variety of drawing, painting and basic design skills. I will specifically teach drawing using markers, pencil, coloured pencils, and drawing pens. Painting using acrylic and and watercolour paintings. And design focusing on composition, hierarchy, and simplification. This class also encourages learners to use their imaginations. Art also teaches patience and persistence. Not every piece of art will turn out perfectly. Art is often a struggle, but challenging yourself is how you get better. If learners can learn to embrace a challenge an also learn that it's ok to struggle, they will improve as creatives and also learn a valuable life skill.Grades Offered
We will be using different materials from this list every week. Learners who take the 20 plus lessons offered in this class will need: Sketchbook! 2 or more sheets of toned drawing paper (smooth cardboard, menial folders, envelopes and paper bags will work in a pinch) 1 or more sheets of black drawing paper Coloured Pencils Markers ( I prefer alchohol markers) Regular graphite pencils Good Eraser Fine tipped black felt pens (I like Micron Pens) A pocket sized note book or a small binder clip and scissors (for flip book class) Acrylic paints Canvas x3 (8x10 is best) Smooth Cardboard (like the inside fo a cereal box) Watercolour paints Watercolour paper Painters or Masking tape Old gift or rewards card Blowdryer (for painting) A variety of paintbrushes including at least one tiny, round brush for detail work Flat edge for applying paint, like palate knives or an old gift card. I love to teach art, and specialize in drawing (wide variety of styles and techniques), procreate, watercolour, and acrylic painting. When I teach, I like to lead by example. This means that I draw, paint and create with my students. Throughout...
