Week 1Lesson 1Background and BeginningWe will study who James Rizzi was, his contribution to art, and his art style, and begin practicing drawing cartoon facial expressions. We will begin sketching buildings with faces and windows. Optional Homework: Students can do a google image search of his art as well as look at his website and galleries that feature his art, to help them with ideas for their own art.Lesson 2Putting it All TogetherWe will review Rizzi's art, and buildings with faces based on his style. We will outline and begin painting sections with watercolors. Homework: Students are encouraged to create a second drawing of buildings with different character face!
Students will learn about a famous artist and create art inspired by his style. For homeschoolers, this class may satisfy an art history requirement.
I am a licensed art teacher. I love to bring art history alive by connecting my students with the amazing work of contemporary artists that they can identify with. Please check out my entire series! I will continue to add more artists as I am able!
