Students will participate in a discussion about artist Paul Cezanne. He is a well-known French artist who specialized in still life paintings. Each day we will look specifically at one of Paul Cezanne's paintings and discuss why these paintings were created. We will also look at the process of these works of art and the materials that were used. Students will create their own imaginary still life using the materials they provide. I will be drawing along with the students. This is a step-by-step drawing class. Learning Objectives Students will be able to: • learn the definition of a still life. • analyze a still life. • write an artist statement describing the composition, media, and subject matter of their still life. • draw a still life I have attached the images that we will be discussing. The image above was created by a 5th grade student. The attached images are from the Met Museum collection. We will be discussing those images during class. After each discussion we will work on our project. By the end of the week students will be familiar with Paul Cezanne and have a completed art piece.
