In this 5-day drawing camp, learners will draw a different beautiful bird each day: a peacock, a flamingo, a toucan, a hummingbird, and a cardinal.

Beginner Level
Through the guided drawing process, students will learn how to use simple lines and shapes to create five different drawings of birds. My teaching style involves breaking the process down into smaller, easy-to-follow steps. I pace the class according to the needs of the students; if needed, I give fast finishers a break, allowing students who need more time to complete their work, the time to do so, and even then, finishing before class ends is NOT the objective. The examples in the picture are only suggestive; students may also request a particular favorite if time allows. My classes are intended to be fun, informative, and a safe place to take artistic risks and make mistakes--that is experimentation, which artists do all the time! At the end of class, students will be invited to share their creations no matter what their progress is. More detailed information regarding the content of this class can be found in the syllabus

over 1 WeekLesson 1:
Hummingbirds
We will examine the shapes and colors of hummingbirds, practice those shapes, and draw a hummingbird, finishing it up with black Sharpies, colored pencils, and if the student chooses, watercolor paint. 50 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
Peacocks
We will examine the shapes and colors of peacock tail feathers, practice those shapes, and draw a peacock. We will finish it using black Sharpies, colored pencils, and watercolor paint (optional). 50 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
Toucans
We will examine the shapes and colors of beaks, bodies and feathers, practice those shapes, and draw a toucan. We will finish it using black Sharpies, colored pencils, and markers (optional). 50 mins online live lesson
Lesson 4:
Flamingos
We will examine the shapes of a flamingo's beak, body tail and legs, practice those shapes, and draw a flamingo. We will finish it using black Sharpies, colored pencils, and markers (optional). 50 mins online live lesson

Paper for each class session (sturdy drawing paper and/or watercolor paper is encouraged) pencil, eraser, pencil sharpener black Sharpie tools for adding color--student choice: crayons, colored pencils, markers, watercolor paint (teacher will mostly be using colored pencils but might also use Crayola markers
