Art Camp: Draw and Paint Like Famous Women Artists

This is an "Art Camp" class which meets four days in a row.  Each day students will learn about a famous woman artist and create an artwork inspired by her art.  We will begin our class with a discussion of our artist and her artwork.  Then I will lead students through a step by step demonstration of how to make their own artworks.  Throughout the process students are encouraged to add their own creative touches to their artworks.  As students work, I always make sure to provide feedback, encouragement, and additional instructions as needed.  If time allows our young artists will have the opportunity to share their artwork with their classmates.

**Although each demonstration will be finished by the end of class, students may need or wish to continue working on their masterpiece after we have signed off for the day.  Everyone works at a different speed, and it's better to take our time than to rush!  

Day 1: Abstract Landscapes Like Alma Thomas
Day 2: Impressionist Flowers With Berthe Morisot
Day 3: Elizabeth Vigee Lebrun Inspired Portraits
Day 4: Rosa Bonheur Horses

Supplies Needed Each Day:
- 9x12 Thicker white paper suitable for painting (80lb weight or higher; I like Canson (100510941) XL Series Watercolor Pad, 9" x 12", Fold-Over Cover, 30 Sheets)
- Pencil with eraser
- Black permanent Sharpie marker (must be a permanent marker) or black crayon
- Crayons or oil pastels
- Watercolor set (Prang or Crayola recommended)
- Watercolor brush
- Container with water (a container with a wider base or a bowl is less likely to spill)
- Paper towels

**You may also want a piece of poster board or large paper to cover the work area.
