Description

Class Experience

Based on the book, "Name That Style" by Bob Raczka, this class is an exploration in art appreciation with exposure to several different art movements throughout history.

This is a lecture/discussion based class.  We will discuss 14 different art movements, what characteristics qualify artwork within each movement, and the artists whose work defined the movement.   We will look at one example of artwork in each movement to help reinforce the concepts learned.

Art movements we will...

Students will learn about how and why certain genres of art came about as well as some of the artists and pieces of those genres.  Students will also learn some basic concepts to help them be able to recognize these genres of art.

I absolutely LOVE art and learning about the artists that are talented enough to be famous.  I went to art school in Atlanta and have spent endless hours teaching (and creating) art since.

1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
