In this class we will look at a brief biography of Piet Mondrian and then looks at pictures of his art. We will learn that he painted people and landscapes when he began painting and then he changed his painting style and began to paint geometric shapes. In these pictures he used the same colors: red, yellow, black, blue and white. For the first 15 minutes of class we will look at the artist's works and discuss what we see, the colors used and how the paintings make us feel. The remaining time in class will be spent creating a work of art of our own using geometric shapes and the colors that Piet Mondrian used. Please note that this is not a technique class but rather a time to learn a bit about an artist and then enjoy creating some art.
