25 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this fun class, we'll create beautiful watercolor art on paper while listening to Mozart's Jupiter symphony. We'll talk about how the art represents aspects of the music we're listening to, and I"ll insert some facts about Mozart and the music we're listening to while we're painting. At the end, we'll all share our unique pieces of art! Students don't need to have any experience with music or art to have fun learning in this class. Please note: occasionally, students do not finish their artwork during the class time. That's okay! I hope they finish after our meeting.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Ohio Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
After teaching music to students in grades preschool through university level for the past 15 years, I've learned that I love teaching music to everyone, regardless of age. Whether we're creating artwork while listening to (and learning about!) famous classical works, working one-on-one during lessons on beginner piano, trumpet, baritone, euphonium, tuba, or music theory, or participating in an interactive book reading, you're welcome in my virtual classroom.
A bit about me:
I have a unique career built around being a music teacher, performer, conductor, children's author, and entrepreneur. I earned a double bachelor's degree in music education and euphonium performance from Capital University, a master's degree in euphonium performance from the Royal Northern College of Music, and a doctor of musical arts in euphonium performance from Rutgers University. I'm certified by the state of Ohio to teach music to grades preschool through 12th grade. I've taught general music to grades preschool through college, group music theory to elementary through college level, and private lessons on beginner piano, most brass instruments, and music theory to students of all ages. As a performer, clinician, and conductor, I frequently travel to work and perform with various ensembles around the United States. Lastly, I became a children's author and entrepreneur because when my first son was born and I didn't see any kids' books about brass band (the ensemble I play in most), I decided to write one! In addition to being a music teacher and performer, I'm now the author of a children's book called, "Amy's Brass Band" which is available worldwide through Amazon. I live with my husband and two young sons, one of whom I homeschooled for the 2020-2021 school year.
In the classroom, I work hard to create a supportive environment that can nurture a child's whole understanding of music. I hope to work with your child soon!
