Students will enjoy a funny music video about an unusual donkey and his quirky personality, learn that differences can be good and then create a cute donkey painting. I will work directly with students via video to show them the drawing and painting basics. This will include drawing of the body, ears, eyes, nose, teeth and mane. Social emotional learning is a key component within this class. The atmosphere is safe and nonjudgmental and students are prompted to connect with the teacher and other students by talking about their artwork, sharing images and feeling comfortable asking for help in this casual environment. Conversations with each student take place while working on the project and student input is encouraged. Topics discussed: Individual differences in physicality and development Social equality Empathy for others Interpersonal communication Role playing Proper paint care and application
Learning Goals
Students will discuss creating a unique donkey-including any differences they choose. Social acceptance and empathy will be discussed.
