This class gives children a sense of achievement and allow them to take pride in their work which builds confidence. When kids use their fingers to manipulate art materials, they are developing their fine motors skills as they use those small muscles in their hands. Art allows children to develop their creativity which is important throughout their lives. By doing something creative, you allow for self-expression and foster mental growth in children by providing opportunities for trying out new ideas, new ways of thinking and problem-solving. The class has a project every week and the materials will be posted weekly. In this class, we will be having art, crafts and drawings that will also encourage painting. This class will give students ideas and the teacher will show students how to accomplish the project. However, students can use their creativity to switch materials at will. Students should please post a picture of their crafts or painting in the classroom. All materials will be recycled materials that can be found within the home. The students will be shown the step by step instruction on how to complete the project. Week 1: Mini Elf Week 2: Christmas Tree Centerpiece Week 3: Christmas Tree Bunting Week 4: Santa Mask

Parental Guidance
This is to let parents know that will be using scissors, duct tape, hole punch and utility knife in one or two classes. Parents are advised to be near to help their children. And if you think your child might not be able to handle these tools, you can email me and l will let you prep in preparation for the projects. Thank you.

Week 1 -Mini Elf Toilet paper roll/recycled cardboard Little ball - polystyrene, wood, or ping pong ball Pipe cleaners/fine wire Stapler/tape School glue/glue gun Scissors Coloured markers Decorations: foam sheet, felt, fabric pieces, feathers, pom-poms, paper straws & beads, etc. Paint supplies: paint, water in a bowl, paintbrush Week 2 - Christmas Tree Centerpiece x 3 Toilet Paper (TP) rolls Thin cardboard, you can use a breakfast cereal box Cardboard, color cardboard or foam sheet for the star Scissors Craft glue, glue stick Punch or cork screw Paint supplies: Watercolor paint/Tempera watercolor cakes, Paintbrush, Water in a container Coloring supplies: sharpies, colour pencils, pastel crayons, permanent marker Décor supplies: Foam sheets, felt-balls, ribbon, glitter and/ or any other decorations Week 3 - Christmas Tree Bunting Brown/white recycled cardboard Utility knife, steel ruler & cutting board Scissors Pencil Stapler Wool/yarn Craft glue, glue stick or tape Coloring supplies: sharpies, color pencils, pastel crayons, permanent marker Paint supplies: Watercolor paint/Tempera watercolor cakes, water in a bowl, paint brush Decorations: Ribbon, stickers, pompoms, foam sheets, pieces of fabric, sequins, glitter etc. Week 4 - Santa Mask Paper plate Red hat Craft glue Strong duct tape Stick Thick red paper/cardboard/foam sheet Decorations: stickers, colored tape, pom-poms Cotton balls for the beard

Hi! I'm Mrs. Opeyemi Olanipekun (though my friends love to call me Mrs opi). I am passionate about teaching having been raised by a teacher. I am super excited to meet your child. I love teaching preschoolers and elementary students. My best subject is mathematics though. I have Masters Degree in Educational Studies and l have over 20years of experience in teaching. I am presently in the process of obtaining my MAT in Early Childhood Education. I believe learning should be fun, so all my classes are interactive and fun. I teach children from different countries online as well. I am looking forward to having fun with your children.
