This class gives children a sense of achievement and allow them to take pride in their work which builds confidence. When kids use their fingers to manipulate art materials, they are developing their fine motors skills as they use those small muscles in their hands. When a topic is taught, making a craft on the subject drives home the lesson for the students. So, crafts and paintings help the children learn more and create an everlasting memory for them. I have also and still in training on how to teach arts to students.
Week 1: A3 paper (160g or thicker) Scissors Black marker Dinner and side plate for tracing Punch Glue stick Paper cup Glue gun 16. embroidery needle Decorations: stickers, foam sheets, coloured paper, wool, string, etc. Colour: pastel crayons, tempera/watercolour paint, bowl of water and paintbrush Week 2: A4 thick white paper 200-240mg Shaving foam (NB foam not gel) Thick cardboard for scraping Paper/dinner plate Acrylic ink Paintbrush 1⁄2 dowel rod or garden stick Stapler Strong tape Hand towel - to dry the brush and to clean painted fingers Old, large beach towel Decorations: ribbon, wool, string, stickers, foam sheets, coloured paper, etc. Week 3: Brown or white mailing tube/toilet paper rolls stapled together/roll of thick cardboard Thick white paper Hammer & nail Paper fasteners Craft glue/glue gun Decorations: pipe cleaners, googly eyes, coloured paper, fabric pieces, felt pieces, etc. Colouring supplies: pencils, crayons or markers Paint supplies: tempera watercolour blocks or any other paint, water jug and paintbrush Week 4: Cardboard Ruler Marker/pencil Utility knife/scissors Paper plates Stapler/tape 2 paper cups Decorations: stickers, foam sheets, coloured paper, ribbons, coloured fabric Colour: tempera watercolour cakes/paint, bowl of water, paintbrush and/or crayons Bonus: 2 ropes Recycled cardboard Cutting knife and board Pipe cleaner x3 paper straws/sticks Tape Glue gun Hand towel Round shaped objects for donuts: Pool noodle/cardboard/foam sheets/bottle caps, etc. Decorations: stickers, foam sheets, coloured paper, etc. Colour: tempera/watercolour paint, bowl of water, paintbrush and/or crayons
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
This class will require the use of materials like scissors, glue gun, needle, plate which can be plastic etc. All of these except the scissors will be used by the adults. I will send an adult prep for the class which would either be before or after the class depending on the topic for the week.
