In this one-time art course we will discuss the psychology behind color and how it applies to drawing, painting, color schemes, history and marketing. Students will fill in a coloring page of their choice using this knowledge.

Coloring is a much beloved art and it is always fun to see how creative someone can get with it. I regularly go down rabbit holes on the internet while browsing through absolutely breath taking images. One of the reasons I find these paintings so captivating is because of how each artist uses color to create the atmosphere, composition and emotion. I am an artist and a professional lighting designer who has spent decades studying and working with color.
6 files available upon enrollmentA selection of coloring pages will be provided. Students can look through them to pick out which one they want to color. If they would prefer, they are more than welcome print multiple pictures, bring their own coloring pages, or make a drawing from scratch. Learners will also need something to color in the printouts with.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
If there is time at the end of class, the student can choose to test their new knowledge with a trivia game.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
