In this semester-long, 15-week art course, we will be working on an array of art mediums and techniques. This course will fulfill the art elective needed, and by the end of the 15 weeks, students will leave with a course completed certificate. There are no grades for this class. There is, however, a certificate of Completion that will be presented at the end of the semester. This is contingent on completing all of the assignments.
These supplies are what you will need for each unit. It's best to buy them all ahead of time to be sure you have them for the day of the class. **Everything below can be found at Walmart or any hobby store including the India ink** Unit 1: Painting- Week 1-3 Supplies: -Watercolors -Acrylic Paint -Black India ink -Shish kabob sticks -Paint brushes -Water and containers -Watercolor paper 9x12 -Thick paper -Canvas Board 9x12 (optional) -Black construction paper -Scissors -Smock -Paper towel -Newspaper for below your projects Unit 2: Collage- Week 4-8 Supplies: - Tissue paper -Magazines/Newspaper -Scissors -Glue -Thick paper (watercolor paper) -Watercolor -Brushes -Water container -Colored pencils, markers, crayons, etc. (optional) Unit 3: Clay- Week 9- 12 Supplies: -Self-hardening or potters sculpting clay (Amazon) -Plastic bag to cover work-in-progress -Water and containers -Clay tools (popsicle sticks, toothpicks, fingers) -Newspaper to form head -An old hand towel -An old bucket or two -"Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Clay" handout Unit 4: Printmaking Week 13-15 Supplies: -Softoleum a couple of pieces -Linoleum cutter -Soft brayer or small paint roller or brush -An old cookie tray -Acrylic paint and ink -Paper- both large and small pieces (watercolor paper will do) -Cardboard pieces -Spray bottle -Paintbrush -Water -Apron or smock -Protection for the table Here is a link to a basic printmaking kit with what you will need.
