In this 3 week class students will have a chance to learn about the 7 continents and the oceans as well as landmarks and map skills.
Class experience
In this class, we will travel around the world. The students will be able to learn about different continents and oceans. We will learn basic facts about each country; what famous landmarks are, what the land is like, what animals you may see, what countries are on the continent... This course will also cover briefly how to read maps and their tools such as legends, compasses, scales and latitude, and longitude. Students will have learn about the continents and oceans. They will also be introduced to the concept of reading and creating maps. This course will incorporate Social Studies and Reading Comprehension skills.
I love history and geography. I find other cultures and places fascinating. I love that every place has a story to tell. This course is a fun way to introduce our world to your students. I also have a minor in history and have worked in the Elementary school setting for several years.
Printer (to print Travel Guide and Travel Journal)- Or a notebook for them to keep a travel journal in Any supplies that are needed for the students chosen project
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There may be some religious landmarks mentioned. For instance, we will briefly mention the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro as a prominent landmark or the Vatican in Rome. We will not go into any of the religions but there may be mention of the prominent landmarks.
