Class Experience

In this class, we will travel around the world.
The students will be able to learn about different continents and oceans. We will learn basic facts about each country; what famous landmarks are, what the land is like, what animals you may see, what countries are on the continent...

This course will also cover briefly how to read maps and their tools such as legends, compasses, scales and latitude, and longitude.
This is intended to be an introductory course for young learners to start to envision the world they live in.

Each student will be provided with a printable Travel Guide where they can read (reading comprehension!) facts. They will also have access to a printable Travel Journal where they can show what they have learned in class and through reading.

Students will also complete a small project and present it at the end. The projects will be chosen from one of the following:
1. Make a mobile representing the continents and oceans
2. Draw a map and animate it (present facts)
3. Write a short story/ letter about or to someone who lives on a different continent
4. Create a travel scrapbook
5. Edible map of the world

I love history and geography. I find other cultures and places fascinating. I love that every place has a story to tell. This course is a fun way to introduce our world to your students. I also have a minor in history and have worked in the Elementary school setting for several years.
