Class Experience

Grab your passport and let's hit the road for a fun, weekly adventure around the world!

Each week a new country will be introduced to the learner.

A typical class goes like this:

***Before the class, the learner will receive a coloring page that they will need to print out and color so they can share with the rest of the class when we meet.

10 minutes - Meet and greet time:
                      - It is important to me to learn more about my students. I take this time to show that I am interested in them and their lives.
We also use this time to wait for other learners to join the class before we begin.
                      - Learners share information about their day to the class.
                      - Learners are asked to show their coloring page to the class and teacher.

10 minutes - Introduction to the country:
                      - Learn about the fun facts and history.
                      - Learners discover what makes this country special and what it is famous for. Landmarks are given to the student.

20 minutes - Song and Dance:
                     - Learners will begin by listening to a famous song from the country.
                     - Learners will then watch a dance from that country. (some weeks we will learn to do the actual dance)

"Goodbyes" - Learners are given special praise for doing a great job in class for the day.
                     - Next week's country will be given to the student.
                     - Learners are encouraged to watch Youtube videos and read more about the next country.

About Teacher Billy:
Unlike other teachers, I have had the unique pleasure and experience to actually live and discovery different countries around the world.
Having lived in many different countries around the world, including Egypt, Greece, Germany, Cyprus, America, Canada, and India, I had the privilege of teaching the children of those countries.

Since OUTSCHOOL is a brilliant education system that connects students from around the world, what better way to educate students on how to appreciate other students and their countries.

I have decided to build a class that not only teaches children about other countries, but also allows them to experience the song and dance of the country by learning from the comfort and safety of their own home.

Weekly schedule:
week 1: (September 13th to 19th) - EGYPT
week 2: (September 20th to 26th) - AMERICA
week 3: (September 27th to October 3rd) - GREECE
week 4: (October 4th to 10th) - INDIA
week 5: (October 11th to 17th) - MEXICO

***The schedule will continue being update weekly.
---------------------------------------------

***Although you can join and leave the class at any time, I do encourage all students to stay with the class, no matter the country of the week. It is important for students to be exposed to these countries and to learn more about them. Even if you are from that country, there is something special you can learn from that country. Learners from that country will be asked to share information about their country to increase pride for their home and history.

Learning Goals

Students will learn about the country and it's history, people, food, music, and dance.

A dance will be taught during each class. Learners are encouraged to show their parents and family the dance they learned.

Parental Guidance
Because this class involves physical activity, it is important to note the following things: (1.) Water - please have a water bottle nearby for the learner to stay well-hydrated. (2.) Space - please have plenty of space for the learner to stand and be able to dance. (3.) Injury - with any physical activity comes the possibility for injury. I try my best to prevent this from happening, however, things like sore muscles and a sprained ankle can happen from a learner slipping on a toy or spilled water that is on the floor. ***I do a quick warmup and cool down before and after the physical movement section of the class to help prevent injuries.
Supply List
A coloring page will be given before each class.
Please have a printer to print the coloring page out for the learner as well as coloring items to make the coloring page beautiful.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Having being a professional actor, singer, and dancer for over 30 years, I enjoy teaching children these different aspects of theatre.

I have decided to build a class that not only teaches children about other countries, but also allows them to experience the song and dance of the country by learning from the comfort and safety of their own home.
