Every lesson will begin with a real-world problem that will help students make sense of what area is and how to represent it properly. Students will be able to solve the same type of problem multiple times using different numbers in order to ensure they understand the problem type and how to solve it. Students will learn how to create a model of an area, label their area models, create equations that match their models using the distributive property, and connect their models to formulas for area and perimeter.
