In this one time course, students will discover the meaning of area and perimeter and design their own dream home.

Class Experience

In this one time class, students will be introduced to area and perimeter.  We will start by using Cheez-Its to examine the area and perimeter of certain objects.  Once students have a solid understanding of the difference between area and perimeter by completing a few examples, students will be asked to design their own dream home and calculate the area and perimeter of each room in their house.  Students will have the opportunity to chat with each other while they are designing their homes...

Students will calculate the area and perimeter of their dream home and be able to describe the difference between the area and the perimeter.
