This course will help boost students' chances of reading and writing testing sucess, simply by helping them prepare for the test; as Benjamin Franklin's said, " By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail ". I will be teaching students in 3rd to 6th grade Common Core Reading and Writing Standards, which are a set of educational standards used in The United States of America. Utilizing sample reading and writing specifications from the Department of Education and other learning sites, I will assess your student's testing readiness to identify critical proficiency gaps in common core reading and writing standards, and then work with your student to bridge those gaps. Additionally, this course will help your student familiarize with reading and writing testing specification, which may reduce testing anxiety and boost testing sucess! This an on-going course that will meet weekly for 45 minutes. During our weekly sessions, your student will learn, practice, and review Common Core reading and writing standards via videos, direct instruction, games, and virtual learning tools. Class structure example below 1.) Introduce the concept: - Student will transition to my lang arts sessions by answering a thought-provoking essential question. Example: When might you rethink an idea? 2.) Testing Vocabulary: Students will become familiar with testing vocabulary. 3.) Direct Instruction- I will utilize slides, videos, and other virtual learning tools to teach Lang Arts testing specifications. Example 5th grade Common Core Standard: Literacy RL.5.1: Quote accurately from a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences drawn from the text. 4.) Practice- Utilizing guided and independent practice, student will build standardize lang arts skills. Example Department of Education Common Core Standard testing questions. Secret Garden: According to the passage, what made the garden look so mysterious? Select two phrases from the passage that show that Mary is “the first person who has spoken” in the garden in years. 5.) Review- I will utilize virtual games and other virtual learning tools to check for understanding. 6.) Close Help boost your student's testing sucess, utilizing my test prep course!
