Class Experience

This class in an interactive Science class for young learners. The students will be able to ask and questions about living and nonliving things to clarify their thinking and classifications. I will introduce the topic by asking the class if they are "living or nonliving." I will gauge their current knowledge. I will then teach the topic by explaining why things are living. I will show them things I have that are living. Once they seem to understand living things, we will talk about the "opposite" of living, nonliving. I have objects I will show them so they understand. We will be sing a children's song called, "It Is Living," to the tune of Frere Jacques. We will learn the body motions that go along with this song, so the class is moving. At the end of class, I will send them on a scavenger hunt in their homes to bring me things that are living and nonliving (plants, animals, toys etc). We will end with a goodbye song I made up for my classes. By the end of class, students will be able to classify living and nonliving things around them.

Hello. I have been teaching for over 20 years. I have experience teaching children from pre-k through 10th grade. I have a Bachelors Degree in Child Development and Family Studies, and a minor in Education. I have been married for 18 years. My husband and I have 3 children ages 15, 13, and 11. I currently homeschool our children, and have since my oldest started Kindergarten. I teach various classes and subjects at our local homeschool tutorial.

Since I homeschool our children, I have experience in all subject areas and learning styles. It's so important for teachers to teach subjects to all learning styles, not just one. In my classes, I use various tools and techniques to accomplish this task.

I teach various classes such as English, Phonics, Reading Comprehension, Math, Science, Social Studies, cooking, crafts, sing and learn, and much more. I look forward to having your child in class.

Just a little personal information: On June 1st, 2022 I had a kidney transplant and my amazing husband was my donor. During the summer of 2022, I have my schedule posted, but please bare with me as I navigate through many appointments. I feel better than I have felt in years. So I'm so excited to get back in the classroom. I just want my lovely students and their families to know my situation and I'm thrilled to share my story when appropriate. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks for thinking of me.
