Class Experience

Beginner - Intermediate Level
Architects use a special way of drawing to communicate their design ideas. It’s technical, well-organized and artistic! We'll learn the different drawing types used by architects, like maps of a building (floor plans!), side views (elevations!), cross sections, and even how to make buildings look 3D (perspectives!).

This class is not just about drawing- it’s a chance to learn more about architecture and how buildings are designed. We will look at real life examples of buildings, examine their materials, patterns, structure, form and proportions. This will give learners inspiration and help bridge the drawing concept to an actual building.

Learners will draw along with the teacher as she gives a tutorial, offering advice according to whatever skill levels the students are at- from beginner to more advanced. This class is ongoing and learners can join at any time. Each week focuses on one or two drawing types (views), and repeating often, using different buildings for inspiration, in order for students to continue practicing architectural drawing techniques in various forms.

This class is perfect for kids who want to learn about architecture, and who love to draw, design and creatively problem-solve! For beginners as well as students who have some experience.
