This class is designed to introduce children, ages 7-12, to the world of Architectural Design and Structures. Each day children will learn about a new Architectural Design Concept. Students will spend time creating an architecture piece that connects to the concept of the day.
I have been teaching this course to thousands of students from around the world since 2009. I am excited to offer this CAMP course to Outschool students!

Materials Needed for the Arch Rocks CAMP - Structures Course : Lesson 1 - MINI Marshmallows Toothpicks Lesson 2 Straws - plastic - standard size Paper clips - standard size Single hole punch String Scissors Lesson 3 POSTER BOARD or CARD STOCK (thick paper) - pre cut into about 6 squares about 4” x 4” or pre cut into equilateral triangles about 3” or precut into a variety of rectangles (smaller than 8" x 8") NOTE: Older students could cut their shapes in class:). Single hole punch String Scissors Students may also want to add color.. (Markers, crayons, paint, stickers) Bonus Project for Day 3: Deck of cards Lesson 4 three different colors of paper... 6 sheets each cut 8" x 8" - ages 9+ (or with a helper) Or Legos or building blocks - ages ~7-9 Lesson 5 Grid paper Markers or crayons to match the colors of the papers or blocks used for Day 4. Day 4's project pencil or pen Lesson 6 PAPER or PLASTIC CUPS. (bathroom size cups will work with standard paper clips, or larger size disposable plastic cups will work with jumbo paper clips) paper clips. (standard for small bathroom size cups, jumbo size for larger disposable plastic cups Paper plates - elective bonus material - for kids ~10+ Rubber bands the size of your paper plates (typically 8") - elective bonus material - for kids ~10+ Lesson 7. (This project may be started on Day 7 and may be completed by the end of the camp). It will take some time to dry. Popsicle sticks Toothpicks Elmers glue Wax paper Lesson 8 - your choices of the following marshmallows graham crackers frosting spreading tool (knife?:) Lesson 9 magazine pages, white school glue cardboard base or a small shoebox-size box Lesson 10 Final Project (May use an option of the materials from Lessons 1-9) Bonus Project cardboard boxes (any size will work) - Some students will create and design homes or a building of their choice using the boxes. Others might want to use large boxes to make a full-scale structure. Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
