Students will create an architectural firm in our Minecraft City and embark on a project for a client. Each client is a company (supermarket chain, football franchise, bank etc...) that is looking for a specific type of skyscraper or building complex to be built with a specific architectural style and certain requirements. As we study architectural styles and techniques, the student companies choose which client they will work for and then create the requested design as their new city expands. Meanwhile, each student's company must also invent a new product or promotion for their client. As we study marketing and advertising techniques, students create a marketing campaign, magazine ad, billboard and TV commercial for their newly-created product. They even market it to students in other cities within our Minecraft state. The final project will be to create an video a TV commercial to present to the class. Students can act in the commercial themselves or direct family, friends, lego minifigures, dolls or whatever they choose. Class Components: Day 1: Our Minecraft city, creating your architectural firm, considering client letters, modernist vs. classical architecture, building your modernist or classical house Day 2: Choosing Your Client Projects, Initial Client Project Plans, Budgeting Your Project, more on modernist vs. classical architecture, finishing houses, Voting in the Classical/Modern housing contest Day 3: 6 Marketing techniques (comparison ads, testimonials, special deals, celebrity endorsements, beautify, funny/silly), magazine ads, working on client projects, Using Google Drawings Day 4:Creating a TV commercial script, creating your ad, finishing magazines ads on Google Drawings, Working on Your Client Project, TV commercial examples Day 5: Working On Your Client Projects, Sharing Magazine Ads, Working on Our City Planning, Final Project and presentations
