Students will learn that archaeology is more than just old bones and a map. They will learn that they can be a part of archaeology today, what archaeology means, and how they too can be archaeologists and make a difference. Students will watch videos, learn facts that they can put into action and learn ways that they can be an archaeologist. They will watch videos from around the world to understand how archaeologists have impacted our world. Week 1. What is archaeology ? In this class, we will take a look at what archaeology means and what stereotypes have been made of archaeologists. Week 2. Famous archaeological sites. In this class, we will take a look some amazing digs from around the world and what has been found from those sites. Week 3. What we can find out about a person from their trash? Archaeologists can find out a lot about a person from the trash they leave. We will take a look at what information was found, and if someone took a look at our trash, what they would find out about us. Week 4. Famous archaeologists We will look at some famous archaeologists and see how they impacted our world. Week 5. Becoming an archaeologist and making a difference In this class, we will take a look at what it takes to be an archaeologist and how we can continue to make a difference in the world we live in. *To all students and parents: Although I give homework, please do not feel pressured that you have to do it. The biggest thing that I want you to take from this class is to have fun. *Also you can request a new time if you need a different time slot. *Classes are subject to change

Teacher expertise and credentials
I love history, and as a child living in England, my family and I would often find old coins in our garden. I have taken Archaeology in college and I have taught this class to homeschool students, who came to love archaeology and asked questions of what they could do to make a difference in the world we live in. My goal in this class is to share with students that they too can be archaeologists in today's world and make a difference.
