Arch-A-Licious! Illustrate World-Famous Delicate Arch With Procreate for iPad

YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE PROCREATE DOWNLOADED TO COMPLETE THE ACTIVITY

This class is brand new class format created by Mr. Niven himself, that he calls “HYAR”, which comes from the two words, “Hybrid Art”. HYAR classes combine both live and prerecorded content. With nearly 20 years of teaching experience, Mr. Niven has found that most art students benefit from being able to work at a speed that is comfortable for THEM. This eliminates the stress and anxiety that can come from being pressured to work faster or slower than others in class. This is also very helpful for students with scheduling and time-zone conflicts, such as international students. Another benefit of HYAR classes is reliability. Technology is amazing, when it does what we want. Depending on how fast a students internet connection is, keeping up with a live class can sometimes be frustrating, or even impossible. Knowing you can go forward or back, or even leave a lesson, and come back to it later, is huge. HYAR classes provide an optimal environment for the largest percentage of students.  

This class DOES NOT require any prerequisites since the principles/techniques needed to complete the class are taught DURING the lesson

With nearly 500 classes and thousands of students taught, Bryan Niven is dedicated to providing his students with multiple opportunities, and ways to learn. HYAR classes balance live interaction and instruction, with activities that can be completed outside of class. This helps students apply the techniques and processes they just learned in class, (while still fresh in their minds), with an in-depth project, to help solidify their understanding.

Every HYAR class starts with an introduction by Mr. Niven, followed by the students, after which the class will enjoy a live demonstration by Mr. Niven. During this time exciting techniques and processes used in the illustration are demonstrated, such as creating outline-free shapes, advanced color drop, color drop threshold, and shape layering. After the demonstration there will be a short period for question and answer, to help increase comprehension and confidence. Finally Mr. Niven will direct all students to the provided activity on the Outschool Classroom, that is to be completed outside of class time. 

This class utilizes state-of-the-art, screen-sharing technology, using Zoom, which allows students to see and hear Mr. Niven teaching, while watching him draw directly on his iPad screen. Mr. Niven’s teaching style is fun and relaxed, yet motivating, which allows the students to feel comfortable, and confident. Bryan builds on principles, techniques and processes, using real-world examples, and motivates his students to use the knowledge gained in class, to create on their own. 

***PLEASE be respectful of the other students, including your own child, (as it can be overwhelming if they are not properly qualified for class), as you consider your learner’s maturity with regard to listening skills, comprehension, and processing. If you would like to try one of Mr. Niven’s classes, and your child struggles with learning, please consider starting with a private lesson. That way the introduction, and any challenges aren’t compounded by peer pressure/anxiety. Two of Mr. Niven’s own children are on the Autism Spectrum, thus his sensitivity and dedication to helping ALL children succeed, is not only professional but also personal.
