In this observation style class, we will learn the unique features of tarantulas and true spiders as well as how arachnids are classified. We will observe the feeding habits and characteristics of captive tarantulas and scorpions.

In this class, we will explore the world of arachnids, from tarantulas to scorpions. We will create hypotheses, discuss those, and then test them. We will foster our love of learning in this exciting class based on the practices of a field scientist. This is an observation style class where we learn about a new specimen and observe it either in its natural habitat or in an enclosure. This class is taught in English.
Students will learn scientific observation skills, critical thinking, problem solving, and communication skills. They will learn to make scientific hypotheses, and how to test them. Most importantly, they will learn to love learning. Students typically develop a love of science when presented with an exciting approach, similar to what this class offers.
I have over twenty years of experience teaching young learners. I am also a special needs mom with extensive experience teaching students with autism, learning challenges, and more. I have worked for public schools, private schools, co-ops, and homeschooling communities. I have kept tarantulas and arachnids for nearly ten years.

Non-verbal students or those with learning challenges that make reading and writing difficult or have not yet reached that level of independence will also enjoy my classes through visual stimulation and exciting verbal presentation.
Students will observe arachnids feeding habits using live prey such as roaches or crickets.
