Learner progress will be assessed by the teacher daily during each lesson as she sees that students are becoming comfortable, independent and fluent in their reading. Comprehension will be monitored regularly through questions and answers as well as activities on the slides that require students to demonstrate understanding. Writing will improve as students keep a regular journal that will show their progression over time. Parents can also assess their own child's progress as they become more independent during their participation in class, their own independent reading, as well as how they are using learned information and reading techniques outside of class.Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 3
Beginner Level
* The 6am EST section of this class is taught completely in Arabic with very limited English. ▬▬▬▬▬▬ ⭐Course Overview⭐ ▬▬▬▬▬▬ This course is designed for students who want to improve their reading skills in Arabic at a beginner level. Throughout the course, students will focus on reading and understanding new stories each week from Levels A, B, and C of the Reading A-Z series. The stories follow the adventures of fictional characters, such as children and animals, as they explore the world around them in their everyday lives. The class will cover various topics, including family, home, school, the park, the zoo, friends, pets, and the store. Students will gain new vocabulary and an understanding of the language that they can use to connect with their everyday experiences. The instructor will teach completely from slides to ensure that students can clearly see the content being presented. Students are welcome to join and leave at any time, as there is no previous information needed in order to succeed in the current week’s lesson. If you’d like to know exactly what week we are in (and that week’s topic), please send us a message to inquire. 📅 Are you looking for a class that meets 1x, 2x, 3x, or 4x per week? Send us a message about a class frequency change. 💬 We can also accommodate learners and families wanting full immersion vs. bilingual classes. Send us a message to learn more! ▬▬▬▬▬▬ 📚Class Breakdown📚 ▬▬▬▬▬▬ Each class will include letter activities, vocabulary review, story reading, comprehension exercises, and writing practice. Some writing will be done on the screen, which will require students to access their writing tools on their computer. Some writing will require a paper, pencil, crayons, and/or markers at home. The class will be taught in both English and Modern Standard Arabic, and it is designed for non-native speakers of Arabic. However, all students are welcome to join. Students should be very familiar with all letters, sounds, and forms of the Arabic alphabet, and should have some experience with sounding out words and reading sentences in Arabic. ▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✨Instructor / Student Interaction✨▬▬▬▬▬▬ Throughout the course, the instructor will strive to make reading enjoyable by delving into each adventure in a fun way, talking about what is happening in the stories, exploring curiosities, and relating what is learned to students' own experiences. Students will interact with the instructor and their classmates continuously throughout the lesson through talking, writing, reading, and completing activities on the slides. ▬▬▬▬▬▬ 🌍Literature Read🌍 ▬▬▬▬▬▬ During the first four weeks of class, students will read stories such as "The Big Cat" by Noura Voutas, "Carlos Goes to School" by Lorena F. Di Bello, "I Can" by Bill DiNardo, and "My Dog" by Vic Moors. The course will cover a total of 12 stories, with additional stories introduced after the first four weeks. ▬▬▬▬▬▬ 💬Language of Instruction💬▬▬▬▬▬▬ This is an immersion class, which means lessons will be taught primarily in Arabic. However, teachers will use English as necessary to guide students. ▬▬▬▬▬▬ 👨🎓Target Student👨🎓 ▬▬▬▬▬▬ Readers at the beginning level, according to the Reading A-Z program, may pretend to read familiar stories, sing their ABCs, recognize and name more letters, identify the front cover, turn pages one by one, and show how text progresses left to right, top to bottom. They may also know some sounds of frequently seen or previously taught letters, identify uppercase letters with greater ease than lowercase letters, and attempt to track print with their finger in books and other texts. Text to Support Readers at the level include detailed pictures that add to the story, short, declarative sentences, repetitive patterns, repeated vocabulary, natural, familiar language, large print, wide letter spacing, familiar concepts, and limited text per page.

Mrs. Thaljeya - Hello everyone my name is Thaljeya Hamdan. I am from a city in Palestine called ‘Ramallah’. I am a mother to 3 beautiful children. I immigrated with my family to the United States when I was 11 years old. I studied in Chicago and I have moved back and forth ever since. I have worked half of my life with kids as a babysitter and I have tutored both English and Arabic.
Mrs. Sondos - Ahlan wa Sahlan! My name is Mrs. Sondos and I teach Arabic! I am half Egyptian and half Syrian and I can understand almost every Arabic dialect out there. I’m a tutor and part time teacher. I graduated from Texas A&M in 2021 and I have been tutoring and teaching since 2019. I have always believed that everyone, regardless of age, deserves a fair chance at learning any subject out there. I’ve seen students struggle and I’ve seen them succeed and have realized that the most important key to success is building a strong foundation in the subject they’re trying to learn. I want to be the one to help others build and maintain that strong foundation that they’ll take with them wherever they go! I have experience teaching kids as young as 4 years old how to read, write and speak Arabic at the basic levels and I’ve enjoyed every moment of it. I love the Arabic language and I can’t wait to help your child explore its beauty with me!
