Class Experience

In this 16-week course, we will practice Arabic conversation in the Levantine dialect. It is not required to know how to read and write in Arabic. Topics covered will vary from week to week, and will usually be focused on vocabulary building in order to facilitate basic conversation. The class will meet for 30 minutes, and will always commence with a short warm up and check in to make sure all students feel comfortable and ready to speak in Arabic. The rest of class will be focused on question and answer style conversation with the lesson topic. As the instructor, I will pose questions for students to answer and guide a discussion based on that answer to promote vocabulary building and reinforcing in Arabic. I encourage students to make mistakes freely and not feel shy or embarrassed about making mistakes, as that is a huge and necessary part of learning a new language. Learners will interact with me and each other for the entirety of the class. Learners should have an interest in Arabic.

* Please note that this class does not teach reading and writing in Arabic.
