Class Experience

In this class, students will begin to learn the building blocks of French through themed vocabulary classes. This is a beginner level french class for students ages 8-12. This class is part 2 of my French class (Apprendre le Français part 1). It is not required to have taken the first part, but it is recommended as we will not directly cover the material that was done in part 1. This class is great for students who have little to no prior experience with French.

Each class will be structured as follows: introductions by both the teacher and students (this will take place in English), and then we will switch to learning in French. In each class, students will learn through repetition and voice variation. This class takes place with limited English. I will provide translations for some words, but will be speaking French as much as possible to help create an almost-immersive experience.

Students will be learning simple sentences and work on answering questions and answers throughout the class. In each class, all students will have many opportunities to speak. Repetition for language acquisition is key and will play a large part in this course.

The class structure will be as follows:
Week 1: The 5 senses
Week 2: Places in the neighbourhood
Week 3: Hobbies and sports
Week 4: Nature
Week 5: Transportation
Week 6: Weather

As the weeks progress, students will gain confidence in their language skills. Students will have the opportunity to speak throughout the class as we go through the PowerPoint. Because students are encouraged to repeat and speak in class, a working microphone is required.

Due to Outschool policy, students must identify themselves on camera at least once at the beginning of class.

I grew up in a bilingual household here in Canada and we spoke both French and English growing up. Learning multiple languages is a great tool for world travellers, and it is a fantastic tool to stimulate your brain. I love speaking French and cannot wait to share my love of this language with you!
